Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that focuses on harmonising individuals with their environment. It is based on the belief that our thoughts and objects in a space can affect the flow of energy, or "qi" (also spelled "chi"), thereby influencing various aspects of life such as health, wealth and relationships.
1. Qi (Energy):Central to Feng Shui is the concept of qi, the vital energy that flows through everything. Good Feng Shui aims to balance and enhance the flow of qi in a space.
2. Yin and Yang: The balance of opposing but complementary forces. Yin represents darkness, stillness, and rest, while Yang represents light, activity, and movement. Feng Shui seeks to balance these forces.
3. Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water are believed to interact in productive and destructive cycles. Properly balancing these elements in a space is crucial.
4. Bagua Map: A tool used to analyze the energy in a space. It divides a space into eight areas, each corresponding to a different life aspect (wealth, fame, love, family, health, etc.) and one central area (well-being).

When the body has been tempered by āsanas, the mind has been refined by the fire of prānāyāmā and the senses have been brought under control by pratyāharā, the sādhaka reaches the sixth stage called dhārana. Here we concentrate wholly on a single point or on a task in which we choose to be completely engrossed.
1. Āsana (Posture): A steady and pleasant posture produces mental equilibrium and prevents fickleness of mind. To practice one needs a clean airy place, a blanket and determination.
2. Prānāyāmā (Prāna-breath/ Āyama - length): connotes extension of the breath and its control. Inhalation, exhalation, retention. The science of breath.
2. Pratyāhāra (senses): when there is rhythmic control of breath, the senses instead of running after external objects turn inwards.
